                          Vidya Niketan - Birla Public School, Pilani              70th Annual Day 

The 70th  Annual Day of the school was celebrated with great pomp and show on Tuesday, 26-11-2013. The Chief Guest for the outdoor function was Lt.Gen.R.S.Panwar,SM,VSM,GOC, HQ 101 Area.The outdoor programme started with the welcome of the Chief Guest by the tiny tots of the school.He was also welcomed by the Director,B.E.T.,Maj. Gen.S.S.Nair,other dignitaries of B.E.T.,Principal ,Birla Public School,Capt.Alokesh Sen,Bursar,Col.Shokat Ali,Headmasters (Middle and Junior)Mr. A.B.Sati and Mr.P.S.Rajpurohit respectively.Then he was introduced to the officers incharge of the three wings of N.c.c. and the Prefects of the school.Thereafter he took the Guard of Honour and took the General Salute.He then inspected the marching of the three wings of N.C.C.The Band Display was the next to follow.The students displayed various tunes and formations of  the band which was appreciated by one and all. Yoga was the next item to follow which was presented by the tiny tots of the school.In this, the students displayed various “Asanas” of yoga which helps everybody to remain fit and healthy.The next programe to follow was Gymnastics.In this, the students exhibited their skill of body fitness and the proper coordination of body and mind.It was followed by a programme on the “Conservation of Environment”.The students displayed various charts depicting pictures and slogans which gave ideas regarding the via medias how one can take care of our beloved mother Earth.The next was the Riding Show.This was the most spectacular programme of all.The young riders of the school displayed their skill of balance of body and the mind in action.The next to follow was the Prize Giving Function.The Chief Guest gave away the prizes and certificates to the students excelling in various outdoor activities of the school. Thereafter,the Chief Guest addressed the gathering.He gave good wishes to  the staff and the students of the school  on the occasion.Besides, he also thanked the students for putting up a brilliant show on the occasion.He also congratulated the students for bagging  various positions in various outdoor activities of the school.He urged the students to give their best in whatever field they are attached to so that they come out with flying colours in their future endeavours.The Chief Guest was presented  the school memento by the Honourable Principal and Mrs.Panwar was given a shawl by Mrs.Sally Sen  as a token of love and remembrance.
 The Indoor Programme started at 6.30pm in the Vijay Hall of Birla Public School. The Chief Guest for the Indoor Programme was Prof. K. K. Sharma, Vice Chancellor ,M.D.S University, Ajmer. The programme started with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest.The next item to follow was the Ganesh Vandana making the occasion auspicious and pious.The next programme which followed was the Theme Walk.Thereafter,the respected Principal read out the School’s Annual Report for the session 2012-13.It was followed by the Orchestra in which one could see the harmonious blend of various musical instruments by the young musicians of the school.It was followed by the Sanskrit version of the song “Aao Bachcho Tumhe Dikhaye” by the students. The students presented some English and Hindi Songs in between also. Moving ahead, the students presented an English Skit named “For Ghosts Sake”. The message was to save our Mother Earth by planting more and more trees by the human race. It gave way to a Group Dance presented by the senior boys of the school. The Dance Drama sequence “Heal the World” was the next presentation to follow. The next item to follow was the Hindi Nukkad Natak titled “Pani Ka Rang” which was a satire on today’s politicians. The final item was the Bengali Song titled “Jodi Tor Dak Sune------“ . Thereafter, the Chief Guest gave away the prizes, certificates and trophies to the students for bringing laurels to themselves, to their houses, to their parents and to the school finally. The school Banner and the Old Boys Trophy was bagged by Panini House. The Chief Guest gave good wishes to the students and the staff on this auspicious day. He urged the younger generation to be very conscious regarding their aim in life and should work with sincerity and devotion in order to achieve that target. He addressed the audience and thanked the children for putting up a performance which was appreciated by one and all. The Chief Guest was presented a shawl, a Bonsai Plant and the school memento by the Honourable Principal. The Chief Guest also released the school’s Annual Magazine on the occasion. The School Captain Mohit Wadhwa presented a cheque of Rupees one lakh seven thousand for CRY to the Honourable Director,B.E.T. The vote of thanks was proposed by the School Captain Master Mohit Wadhwa. The programme ended with the singing of  National Anthem.
